Obituary for Betty Brooks
Betty Ann Sullivan Brooks, age 69, of Rogersville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 14,
2016. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Mount
Zion Baptist Church and attended East Rogersville Baptist Church with her son in recent years.
Betty was a 1965 graduate of Rogersville High School and earned a degree from Virginia
Intermont College. She worked as a beautician, medical receptionist, and stay-at-home mother
to her three sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Virginia Sullivan; and her devoted
husband of 38 years, James Harvey "Jim" Brooks.
Betty is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Christie Brooks, Danny and
Leah Brooks, and Tommy and Hollie Brooks, all of Rogersville; seven grandchildren, Peyton,
J.T., and Jacob Brooks, Courtney and Jaret Brooks, and Henry and Manning Brooks, all of
Rogersville; aunt, Doris Vaughn (Aunt Ton Ton); special cousins, Wanda Burgess and Linda
Goldsmith; special friends, Shirley Holt, Brenda Fletcher, Robin Neal, Sherry Tolbert, and Betty
Price; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of amazing friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday (6/17/16) at East Rogersville
Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jason Royston officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday (6/18/16) at Highland Cemetery. Online
